Harry Potter Festival OKC

To begin this blog, we will start in the past when I first moved to Northwest Arkansas. I visited Oklahoma City’s Harry Potter Festival back in October 2016. This type of festival resembles more of an outdoor cosplay convention. An entire street block was sectioned off so people could gather together and show off their love for Harry Potter & the characters from the book series.

This was my first time attending any type of cosplay convention or festival dedicated to a specific genre of pop culture, but I was excited. Since I did not have a cosplay outfit for this particular event, I decided to dress up as an average witch you would find in the Wizarding World. Plus, dressing up as yourself isn’t that hard.

Some of the events at the festival included Wizard Chess, novelty booths of all kinds, and even a food truck serving butterbeer. I was fortunate to have met the Dark Lord Voldemort himself and also get a picture with my favorite Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange. One of my favorite sites I got to see and touch was the Ford Angelia 105E Deluxe that was enchanted to fly by Arthur Weasley and then driven by Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It was truly wicked.

In life, we sometimes take for granted what is magical or mystical. I encourage everyone to immerse themselves in something that is of the occult or mythical. Delve into a subject matter that you don’t quite understand. Learn about a realm you are not sure of yourself. Find the magic in life. Plug your brain into another world and pursue a higher quality of thinking and analyzing. Discover the odd and unusual and participate in the whimsy. You never know what you will experience in life if you don’t go out and try it.
